In a five-square-meter room that I rented during my college days, around 9:00 in the morning, I meditated on Psalms 91:14 CEV.
The Lord says, “If you love and truly know who I am, I will rescue you and keep you safe.
During that time, a revelation came to me that the more we know God, the more we love Him. Also, the more we love Him, the more we will know Him. This has been my prayer for that entire week, even a month. It has been written in my devotional notebook as a daily reminder. It has been my lifetime quest to love and truly know who God is. Then, a few months passed by, and I had an opportunity to hang out with Sir Joel, chairman of our worship team in those years, while taking care of the church logistics. He told me about having a song from God. I did not understand what he meant during that time. Later on, his wife, Ma'am Myra, handed a small sheet of paper to me with the lyrics of a song. She told me that those words were my prayers, and God wants them to be written as a song. In awe and wonder, as I read the lyrics, God, once again, proves that He does really exist because of how accurate the written words are, compared to my secret prayer. I also wondered how this woman knew my prayer?I never told it to anyone. These are the words written on that paper she gave me.
From the very core of my heart
Comes a voice speaking aloud
LORD, You are my love
The burning passion within me
Is loving you wholeheartedly
I love You, LORD, this is my cry
Let me know more of you my GOD
The more I know you
The more I love you
Let me know more of you my GOD
Having no idea of how to make it a song during that time, I just stored it within my archive. Between the years 2011 and 2012, I started to meditate on its melody. I was trying to write it as a ballad song at first, but failed even to begin. It was unnatural for me to write a melody after the lyrics. I had a couple of songs written before this; usually, both words and melody were written simultaneously as my natural workflow.
By the grace of God, in His perfect time, the song was completed with all of its technical details in January 2025. As my wife wrote the melody for the bridge, I am grateful to God for the patience He gave me. Truly, from 2010 up to the present, this song has been a prayer within my heart. I believe it will echo unto eternity. I cannot explain to you every word with it. You should experience this kind of desire that God can only give. The more we know God, the more we love Him. Even though He is a mysterious God, we can come to Him and discover His infinite attributes. Let’s start by desiring to know Him deeper in these mortal days and continue to enjoy loving Him throughout eternity.
It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, But the glory of kings is to search out a matter. Proverbs 25:2 NKJV
9 But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so, no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. 1 Corinthians 2:9-12 NKJV
A true encounter with God will result in desiring to know and love Him more. It will be like an obsession, a voice that speaks to you. A burning passion within is driving you to love Him, wholeheartedly. A cry for more of God in our lives.
